Initial Position & Fundamentals

Experience from teaching and research at Swiss music universities during recent years shows that wellbeing, performance and health awareness among students can be increased through physiological training. This recognition is most pertinent to teachers in training, who are responsible for future music educational developments. Musicophysiological activities at Swiss music universities at international conferences have proven seminal. From exchanges among involved lecturers and instructors, the idea has arisen to unite existing know-how in one competency centre, custom-designed for the need of music universities. By doing so, a new generation of educators in the discipline of music physiology would be trained for the music university as well as music school levels.
